The Department of Sociology and Centre for Swacch Bharat, Swastha Bharat organized a lecture on 5 January 2019 on Models of Sustainability: Evolving Social Enterprises and Fund Raising Strategies. The lecture was delivered by Akhil Maheshwari, Founder and Director, Naya Savera(NGO), Jaipur in Seminar room where we had students of BA, MSW and MA. Mr Maheshwari has been working in the field of social development over the past ten years. Naya Savera is a youth-based non-governmental organization that aims to work towards providing a healthy, nurtured and nourished lifestyle to people who are deprived of facilities due to poverty and lack of opportunities. It is currently working on many projects like “SAKSHAM”-Overall Community Development Programme, Campaign Santushti, Campaign “Days of Pride” and many more.

In his lecture, Mr Akhil Maheshwari discussed the importance of fundraising in the NGO. He also introduced the participants to many exclusive examples and challenges in the world of social development. He shared his own experiences on how and why funds play an important role in making NGO work efficiently. As per him, the key to successful NGO is its fund management. It is an art that requires a lot of patience and hard work. The organizations from all the sectors have to be convinced towards making contributions for the social causes. People are willing to help but it requires proper communication and explanation of the objectives of the NGO.
