The department of Fashion and Textiles conducted a Guild Activity on 12thFebruary 2019 for the students. The resource person was Ms. Raj Dholiwal for the Guild Activity.

Today day for creative learning.  To cater to the needs of our aspiring designers, we have organized a activity that aims to introduce them to new techniques for making traditional arts and crafts. Students learn to use traditional crafts to make new, contemporary products.

The first in the series was a activity on Shibori/tie-dye using fabric colours. The beauty of the technique is that there is no harmful chemical and minimal use of water. An expert in the technique had been invited who taught the students different ways of folding, scrunching, twisting and pinching the fabric in order to produce different eye-catching Shibori patterns. Students were quick in learning the techniques and came up with some dazzling designs.

The aim of these workshops is to open up a window of imagination for the students. The key objective is to inculcate a level of proficiency in these designers and help them develop out-of-the-box thinking and creativity, critical to becoming successful in their field.
