NSS is a scheme of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports which is aims at the personality development
of students. The
National Service Scheme was launched in 1969 to give a new dimension to the higher education system and
to guide
students towards community service while they are still studying in an educational institute. NSS is a
reflection of
Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals which inspire the youth to participate in social upliftment and in tasks of
national
development. The scheme extends to all states & Universities in the country. “NOT ME BUT YOU “ is the
motto of NSS.
NSS aims at arousing social consciousness of the youth with an overall objective of personality
development of the
students through community service.
