Equal Opportunity Cell

Equal Opportunity Cell - IIS University

IIS (Deemed to be University) has established the Equal Opportunity Cell to aid and advice the students from the marginalized sections, identified as SCs, STs, OBCs, Minorities and Divyangjan. The University ensures that students from these sections are not deprived of access to educational and cultural resources for their upliftment. The Cell encourages the students from socially disadvantaged groups in attaining their optimum potential. The Institution has been conferred with grants and scholarships, during its Autonomous status, for students to give them an opportunity to excel in preferred fields. These scholarships have been a huge motivation to introduce a separate unit that will work specifically towards the promotion of female students coming from these social groups. Currently, the Cell is catering to the needs of almost 400 students of IIS (Deemed to be University) pursuing various programmes at the University.

Aims and objectives

  • To provide guidance and counseling to students with respect to academic, financial, social and other matters and to oversee the effective implementation of policies and programs for disadvantaged groups.
  • To adopt measures to ensure due share of utilization by SC, ST, OBC, minorities in admissions, recruitments (teaching and non-teaching posts) and to improve their performances.
  • To orient them for scholarships, test and programs which will help them receive financial support from State/Central Government and to organize interface with well-established/leading academicians from the same categories regularly so that the students are motivated towards achieving their goals.
  • To make efforts to sensitize the academic community regarding the problems associated with social exclusion as well as aspirations of the marginalized communities.
