DISTINGUISHED COLLEAGUES
It is our immense pleasure to
announce the XXXI Annual Conference of the Society of
Toxicology, (STOX) India and Symposium on Current Trends in
Environmental Toxicology, 2011. This event is being jointly
organized by Department of Zoology, International College for
Girls, The IIS University, Jaipur and STOX, India at Jaipur on
22 nd to 24th December 2011.
About the Conference
The last two decades of 20th
century and the first decade of the current century have
brought significant changes in the way we view our environment.
Today human community of every place is in search of ‘Clean
Environment’, which is free from toxic substances. In the recent
past, ample attention has been focused on “Environment” and on
human health quality.
Environmental
toxicology is related to ecotoxicology and as such requires an
understanding of ecological principles as well as a grasp of how
chemicals can affect individuals, populations, communities and
ecosystems. Measurements of biological impact are accomplished
using either species-specific responses to toxicants or impacts
on higher levels of organization from individuals to population
and so on. The ability to measure chemical transport, fate and
exposure of organisms in “ecotoxicologic testing” is critical to
the ultimate development of an “ecological risk assessment”. The
present conference is aimed to bring the scientists working in
the different areas of Environmental Toxicology and allied
disciplines on one platform for the scientific deliberations and
interaction. |
